Tropical Cyclone Yasi is expected to be a low pressure system by the time it enters the Northern Territory early tomorrow. But the Bureau of Meteorology is still predicting winds of 100 km/h within 180 kilometres of the storm when it enters the Territory. Barkly Homestead, almost 250 kilometres west of the Queensland border, is preparing for the unprecedented remnants of Tropical Cyclone Yasi. Manager Tom Mayne says staff are taking precautions such as moving any obstacles outside that could be dangerous if picked up by the storm. "Everyone's taking it pretty seriously, it's a pretty intimidating looking system and from what I hear we haven't seen the likes of it for a hundred years or so." But Mr Mayne says there are people travelling into Queensland along the Barkly Highway trying to get home. "The travellers are just as concerned. I've had a truckie that had to unhook a trailer to expedite his trip home so he could go and tie his boat down and get his house ready."
